Coquillade Provence Dog Friendly Review

Coquillade Provence holds an A+ Roch Rank, the highest grade we give, and it has earned it by giving the whole estate to the dog rather than a corner of it. This is an 11th-century hamlet, built by Cistercian monks from Sénanque Abbey, set on a hilltop in the Luberon looking out over the Luberon Regional Natural Park. Around it run 42 hectares of the estate's own vineyards, forest, lavender and olive groves, so the first walk of the day starts at your door, and beyond the gate lie the hundreds of trails of the regional park, the ochre cliffs of Roussillon and the hill villages of Gordes, Ménerbes and Lourmarin.

The hotel matches the setting. A Relais & Châteaux house since 2010 with two Michelin Keys, it is laid out like a village, with stone paths, sun-dappled terraces, a spa, its own winery and a cycling centre, and Wine Spectator singles out the wine list at Les Vignes & Son Jardin among its best for 2026. Most of the rooms and suites welcome dogs, of any size, up to two to a room, and your dog may stay in the room if you go out. Dogs are welcome in the lobby, the salon and on the restaurant terraces, while the restaurant interiors and the pool area are kept for people.

Your dog arrives to a bed, proper food and water bowls, treats and a plush bone, and in the finer suites a calming spray and a Coquillade scarf for the walks. Dinner comes from the kitchen's own K9 Sommelier menu, delivered to the room, and in the Luberon Suites your dog even has a private pool to cool off in on hot Provençal days, and every dog can splash about in the doggy paddling pool, which is fantastic in the summer. Each season the hotel also runs The Best Dog in the Season, a photo competition for its canine guests posing in a Coquillade bandana around the estate, and the winning dog's family comes back for a complimentary night.

There is a dedicated Paw Garden and a private forest trail, with poop bags, route advice and a dog walking service, and if you want an evening to yourselves the hotel's own team will sit with your dog. Grooming can be arranged with a local groomer, the staff are trained for canine guests, and the concierge keeps an emergency vet's number to hand. The hotel also puts something back: it is an official partner of Miyou, the animal welfare association in Gargas, and this year it has supported 100 Toits, which rescues abandoned dogs, with donations to both. The fee is €25 a night with no deposit, and for an owner heading to Provence there are few finer places to stay with a dog.
