La Posada Hotel and Gardens holds a disappointing D Roch Rank, though it shares more of the hotel with your dog than many grander places do. Your dog may join you in the bar, in the lounge and out on the terrace, and the large south lawn is where guests take their dogs. Most rooms take dogs, with only the East Wing kept free of them, there is no weight or size limit, and up to two dogs may share a room. Cats are welcome too.
The team will point you to good walks, from the walking trail along First Street to a dog park a few streets away by the memorial. The fee is $10, and a refundable damage deposit is also taken, though the hotel did not tell us the amount, so ask before you arrive. There is a bucket with a rake and scoop for clearing up after your dog, but no poop bags are handed out.
Dogs cannot go into the restaurant, and your dog may not be left alone in the room, so dinner means eating elsewhere or taking turns. There is no dog bed, no food or water bowls, no dog food, toys or treats, and no walking, sitting or grooming service of the hotel's own, so pack the essentials from home. This suits an owner who wants a lawn, a terrace and a bar to share with the dog, and who is happy to bring everything else from home.
