Amangiri
Canyon Point, United States of America · 5 Star Hotel
Amangiri Dog Friendly Review
Amangiri holds an acceptable C Roch Rank, and the setting alone is reason enough to bring your dog. The resort sits on 900 acres of the Colorado Plateau at Canyon Point, Utah, folded into red rock country of mesas, canyons and dunes twenty minutes from Page, with twelve miles of self guided trails starting on the property and the nearest dog park half an hour's drive away in Page. Every suite welcomes dogs and each has its own patio or terrace, so early mornings and desert evenings are spent outside together.
The resort itself is a modernist retreat of 34 suites, an Aman Spa and a pool that wraps around the mesa it is built against, with the ten tented pavilions of Camp Sarika, each with a private plunge pool, a short way off. The main restaurant serves American Southwest cooking for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the open air Desert Lounge and Fireside Pavilion are where guests end the day, with cocktails at dusk and the mesas glowing behind them.
Your dog arrives to a bed, proper bowls and a welcome bag of treats tagged 'I stayed at Amangiri', and the chef will prepare meals for your dog on request. Waste bags are provided on the trails, the team offers dog walking and dog sitting by the hour, and you may leave your dog in the suite while you dine. The fee is $100 per dog per night with no damage deposit, up to two dogs of up to 50 lb may stay, and the dining room, bar, lounges, spa and pool are kept for people. It suits an owner with a smaller dog who wants the desert, the trails and real comfort, and who is happy to spend the evenings on the terrace.
